The REAL need for Health Insurance
If you think the cost of health insurance is high, check this out. These are recent real-life experiences of our customers.
A 32 year old mother was involved in a head-on automobile accident. She was minding her own business, driving along a main 2-lane road when an oncoming car suddenly swerved into her lane directly in front of her. In an effort to avoid collision, she swerved sharply, was hit by the oncoming car and rolled over in the ditch on the side of the road. Her children were in the car, belted into child seats in the back. The 4 year old was checked at the ER and found to be unhurt, the 9 month old suffered a fractured femur and was seen in 2 ERs before the cause of her discomfort was diagnosed and treated.
The mom was air-flighted for 50 minutes to a nearby trauma center where she was treated in the ER for several hours, spent 2 days in ICU, 3 more days in the hospital, had 3 surgeries on one foot, one ankle and a tibia. A week after being release from the hospital, she had to return for a additional surgeries to the foot and ankle. Needless to say, she was in a lot of pain and was not walking for several months.
The medical bills for just the mom were:

A 39-year-old man went to the emergency room one Sunday evening with severe stomach cramps. He was admitted to the hospital and subsequently diagnosed with cancer. He ended up staying in the hospital for 6 weeks, had several surgeries and chemotherapy. There were times when his doctors weren't sure he was going to make it. This lucky man walked away from the hospital and is back at work today. Prior to his admission to the hospital, he felt fine and had no condition that would warrant any medical attention.
His hospital bill alone was $661,000. That doesn't include the cost of any surgeries or the cost of the physicians time and talent. He was very happy to pay his $1,500 deductible and walk away alive.
